Quick Start - Fives
Press play on a walk round a real court (2:37), spin the interactive 3D court, and learn the unwritten rules. Enough to walk on a court next weekend.
How to play Fives
- Watch the 2:37 intro film to understand the game and how a rally works
- Learn the court: front wall, two side walls, the step, the buttress, the front ledge, and the hole
- Understand serving: an overarm throw that must hit the front wall above the front ledge, then the right-hand wall, and land in the back-step area just off the top step
- Understand scoring: only the serving side scores; win a rally while receiving and you don't score, but the serve passes to you
- Play to 12 points, best of three games, swapping front and back positions every four points
- Learn the etiquette: call your own faults, acknowledge good shots, shake hands at the end
